If you’ve ever dealt with in-line annealing, you know the struggle. You need those thermal gradients to be spot on, or you’re looking at internal stress and cracked glass. The old-school way? Big ovens relying on convection or heaters that take forever to warm up. Those things are bottlenecks. Plain and simple. That’s why we use fast-response infrared (IR) radiators. They kill the delay.
How it actually works
Think of these IR lamps—usually shortwave halogen tubes—as a direct line of energy. Instead of wasting time heating up the air around the glass and hoping it transfers, the energy goes straight into the material. It’s nearly instant. You can crank the temperature up or drop it down in milliseconds. This is huge because it means your throughput stays steady even if your conveyor speed starts acting up. And if the line suddenly stops? The lamps cut out right away. No overheating, no warping, no ruined batches.
The “Catch” with High-Density Heat
To get enough heat for industrial-scale annealing, we push these lamps with high wattage and specific voltage profiles. The upside is that you can make your annealing tunnel much smaller, saving a ton of floor space. But there’s a trade-off. When you push that much power through a short tube, things get hot—really hot. If you skimp on your cooling fans or heat sinks, you’re asking for trouble. Undersized ventilation is a quick way to melt your connectors or warp your mounting brackets.Don’t cut corners on the cooling.
Keeping things simple on the floor
We didn’t want these to be a nightmare to maintain. We designed them for quick, drop-in replacements. By using standard connectors like R7s or SK15, your techs can swap out a blown lamp in a few minutes. No need to rewire the whole rack or call in a specialist. At the end of the day, you just want stability. Shortwave IR sinks deep into the glass, heating the core rather than just scorching the surface. It means the glass hits that annealing point uniformly, and you spend way less time throwing scrap into the bin.
